trig-ongelijkheid

Opgave - APMC 1978 dag 1 vraag 3

Zij $x=1^\circ$. Toon aan dat
$$\sqrt[44]{\tan x\tan2x...\tan44x}<\sqrt2-1<\frac{\tan x+\tan2x+\cdots+\tan44x}{44}.$$

Oplossing

Jensen. De functie $f \left(0,\frac14 \pi\right) \to \mathbb{R} x \mapsto \ln\left(\tan x\right)$ is concaaf, dus voor $x = \frac{\pi}{180}$ geldt $$\begin{eqnarray*} \ln\left(\sqrt[44]{\tan(x) \cdot \tan(2x) \cdots \tan(44x)}\right) & = & \frac{f(x) + f(2x) + \cdots + f(44x)}{44} \\ & \leq & f\left(\frac{x + 2x + \cdots + 44x}{44}\right) \\ & = & f\left(\frac{\pi}{8}\right) \\&=& \ln\left(\sqrt{2} - 1\right).\end{eqnarray*}$$ Gelijkheid kan duidelijk niet optreden.
Anderzijds is de functie $g \left(0,\frac14\pi\right) \to \mathbb{R} x \mapsto \tan x$ convex, dus $$\frac{g(x) + g(2x) + \cdots + g(44x)}{44} \geq g\left(\frac{x + 2x + \cdots + 44x}{44}\right) = g\left(\frac{\pi}{8}\right).$$ Daaruit kunnen we opnieuw vlotjes onze conclusies trekken.
